By way of introduction...

Life can be difficult for a secret Victorian in the 21st century. If you find yourself in a similar situation, I hope that this blog will give you some inspiration for getting by in an era where cravats, penny farthings, petticoats and pocket watches are no longer commonplace.

I have long believed that we should celebrate all that was achieved in this era. Queen Victoria's 63-year reign was an age of invention and innovation, when the imagination knew no bounds. Many of Britain's most famous names were active in this period - Dickens, Brunel and Darwin, to name just three - and their influence continues to shape our culture today. I want to explore the Victorian era further, and to some extent establish how far it continues to affect our lives - and how we can actively participate in Victorian pursuits today!
